Thanksgiving is a holiday in the US that was started by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It was a day to thank God for preserving the pilgrims in 1621. They had nearly died in an incredible cold winter. When the harvest finally came in, they choose the last Thursday in November to be a day of great feasting and thanks.
God deserves thanks for all He has done for us. In the Bible it says:
“O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Ch 16-34
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Psa 100:4
“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” Hebrew 13:5
We can give Him thanks everyday for His lovingkindness towards us. Singing worship songs to Him on your guitar is a special way to give Him praise and thanks.
I’ve read the end of the Good Book and there are some pretty dark days ahead for this world. Fortunately the ending is Glorious and lasts for eternity. Be strong and keep giving thanks, even when it is a sacrifice. Great days are ahead that will make these pale dimly in the past.
