Video Newsletter – Finger Strumming, Plagal Cadence, and Japan

March 17, 2011 By jeanw 4 Comments

Worship Guitar Class Family News Video

This is our first video format newsletter. There are four topics covered…

  1. A Lessons on ‘Finger Strumming’
  2. Plagal Cadences
  3. Piano Software Game
  4. News from Friends in Japan

To see the piano program, visit . It’s a software game that teaches people to play the piano. It was produced by a gentleman who lifts up his work to the living God. He debated going into the ministry or into music full time.

I was so delighted to hear from the Galbreath family in Japan. They sent several pictures and described how God was merciful to their family. The pictures show that everything in the house had fallen… but the miracle is that the house is still standing and no one was injured. I found the song the kids submitted for our worship contest in 2007. It is background music for some of the pictures and some wonderful verses in Scripture, in the video. Their site is japanmin.com/

Remember to Worship Him with all of your heart, because He Loves you with all of HIS.

God Bless,

Jean 😀

Giving Thanks

November 26, 2010 By admin 1 Comment

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a holiday in the US that was started by Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It was a day to thank God for preserving the pilgrims in 1621. They had nearly died in an incredibly cold winter. When the harvest finally came in, they chose the last Thursday in November to be a day of great feasting and thanks.

God deserves thanks for all He has done for us. In the Bible it says:

“O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Ch 16-34

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Psa 100:4

“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” Hebrew 13:5

We can give Him thanks every day for His lovingkindness towards us. Singing worship songs to Him on your guitar is a special way to give Him praise and thanks.

I’ve read the end of the Good Book, and there are some pretty dark days ahead for this world. Fortunately, the ending is Glorious and lasts for eternity. Be strong and keep giving thanks, even when it is a sacrifice. Great days are ahead that will make these pale dimly in the past.

How To Break Through a Guitar Playing Wall

October 15, 2010 By admin 11 Comments

Bar ChordsWhat do you do when your guitar playing seems to hit a wall? Are there songs that seem too hard to play? For many people bar chords seem too difficult to play. Never give up!

One of my friends mentioned to me that she had been playing the guitar for many years, but avoided playing all bar chords. She said that they were too hard to play. When I asked her how many hours in total she actually had tried to play them, she admitted it was just a couple hours!

I challenged her to ‘try’ to play them for just 5 – 10 minutes a day. If you don’t try, then you definitely will never succeed. The exciting thing that happens is your hand will get stronger. It’s like working out in a gym.

Let me back up and also say, if bar chords are your ‘wall’, you might want to have your guitar checked out. It may be too hard to play, period. There are some instruments with unusually high ‘action’ and those are hard to play. The action is the distance from the string to the neck. If the guitar is not the problem, with practice the bar chords will eventually became very easy to play.
