Video Newsletter – Finger Strumming, Plagal Cadence, and Japan

March 17, 2011 By jeanw 4 Comments

Worship Guitar Class Family News Video

This is our first video format newsletter. There are four topics covered…

  1. A Lessons on ‘Finger Strumming’
  2. Plagal Cadences
  3. Piano Software Game
  4. News from Friends in Japan

To see the piano program, visit . It’s a software game that teaches people to play the piano. It was produced by a gentleman who lifts up his work to the living God. He debated going into the ministry or into music full time.

I was so delighted to hear from the Galbreath family in Japan. They sent several pictures and described how God was merciful to their family. The pictures show that everything in the house had fallen… but the miracle is that the house is still standing and no one was injured. I found the song the kids submitted for our worship contest in 2007. It is background music for some of the pictures and some wonderful verses in Scripture, in the video. Their site is japanmin.com/

Remember to Worship Him with all of your heart, because He Loves you with all of HIS.

God Bless,

Jean 😀

Guardame Las Vacas

December 4, 2010 By admin Leave a Comment

‘Guardame Las Vacas’ is a fun Renaissance Lute solo that included in both our ‘Guitar Music Theory Course‘, book with videos, and the ‘Reading Notes on Your Guitar’ book. It a lovely piece to play. Here is a video for your listening enjoyment. It’s a theme with variations. The song has a repeating pattern of 8 measures. This is one of the common ways to write music.

This is one of the songs that is included on the DVD of the Guitar Music Theory Course. Just noticed that ‘Unfailing Love’ is on the last screen. It’s the next song in the course. I had a blast writing several new worship songs for that course, showing different ways to make song arrangements.

Guitar Scales

September 8, 2010 By admin 2 Comments

C-ScaleOne of the best ways to warm-up before you start playing is by playing guitar scales. It gives you an opportunity to concentrate on your guitar technique without thinking about a song or chords.

Here is a video showing you how 2 ways to play a C-Scale. It has a one and two octave version of the scale. There are many types of guitar scales. There are blues scales, jazz scales and scales built on major and minor keys.

These are the first guitar scales I learned. It’s a great place to start. And if you’ve been playing for years, it’s still helpful to warm-up with scales like these.

Regardless of the type of music you play, playing scales can be an excellent vehicle to improve your technique. Great musicians of very instrument, including the voice, have honed their skills by working on scales.

Hope you enjoy the video and apply what you learn.

God Bless,
Jean Welles

The music for two C scales is here. c-scale.pdf
