9 Ways To Worship God

May 3, 2016 By admin Leave a Comment

We have an Amazing and Wonderful God! Just look at the beauty that He has put in this world! He has painted the skies with brilliant colors and carpeted the earth with lush green plants, gorgeous flowers, and untold numbers of magnificent creatures.

In just one handful of soil, there are more living organisms than there are people on the entire earth! Yet, our planet, earth, rotates around a rather small sun compared to some of the HUGE stars found in our galaxy.

There are no words in our language that can begin to describe His magnificence. He even tells us that His ways are higher than ours as the heavens are higher than the earth. He is our Creator and deserves our love and devotion.

I always end my Worship Guitar Class Newsletters with the phrase,,,

Worship Him with all of your heart because He loves you with all of HIS!

Worship_God

Jesus said the most important commandment was to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.

‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37

How can we worship God? First and foremost by loving Him from the heart. Our church is going through a series this year called ‘Love God. Love People.’ All of the other commandments hinge on these two.

We can have a heart of gratitude for all that He provides us every day. He has given us wonderful bodies so intricate that if we really grasped how special we are made, how can we not thank Him?

He’s given us hands that can create. We can play musical instruments, paint pictures, write books, create crafts and produce whatever our minds imagine. He has given us creative and amazing minds.

David thanked God for how special we are made. in Psalm 139 he writes:

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

When you begin to comprehend the Love of God, our response should be to love Him in return. David also wrote in Psalm 139:

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.

I’ve always LOVED this verse. Have you ever seen a picture of the Sahara Desert? Can you count the sand? That, my friend, is how often God is thinking about just you.

Here Are Some Ways To Worship God

  1. With Worship Music. Singing worship songs to God was practiced way back in the first books of the Bible. Moses and Miriam both sang and wrote songs.
  2. With Dancing. David danced before the Lord. In Psalm 149 it says “Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.”
  3. Bowing Down to Worship. We can worship with words, in prayer. Often people bowed down in reverence to worship God.
  4. Serving Others. Jesus said as we serve the least among us, we are serving Him. This includes visiting prisons, clothing the poor, and how we treat our neighbors.
  5. With our Work. In Colossians 3 it says: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
  6. By Studying and Doing what’s in His Word, the Bible. There’s an amazing promise that if we abide in Christ and His Word abides in us He will do whatever we ask.
  7. Attending and participating in a good church. We are told to not forsake the gathering together of believers.
  8. Enjoying His Wonderful Creation. Acknowledge Him in all the beauty you see.
  9. Trust Him in Trials. Always lean on Him to help you with any trials that you are facing. He is faithful and can take you through them!

God is infinitely powerful and wonderful! We are each made in His image and are deeply loved! Make this world a better place because of His Love that lives in you! God Bless!

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today Music

March 23, 2016 By admin 33 Comments

Here is a guitar arrangement of ‘Christ The Lord Is Risen Today’ that I made for you. Resurrection Sunday is my favorite holiday!  The video lesson is posted here. The music is also available free from the form below. Just fill in your first name and email address and we’ll send it right out. If you would like to continue to receive help from us, check the ‘newsletter’ box and will send out lots of tips for playing the guitar and a free chart of chords too.

‘Christ The Lord Is Risen Today’ was one of the first songs written by Charles Wesley. He wrote it one year after his conversion to Christianity. What a huge blessing this man is to the body of Christ down through the centuries! This song was written and sung in the 1700s. It is loved as much today as when it was first written. I praise God for all His songwriters new and old that help us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ!!

If He was raised and He was. Then, we will also be raised as He promised.

The evidence of Christ’s birth and resurrection are immense. I find it refreshing to see such fine minds like Josh McDowell, Francis Schaeffer, CS Lewis, Ravi Zacharias, and others that came to the Bible as skeptics. Then, when they really studied it became not only Christians but they all wrote books in defense of the faith.

I recently posted a video about many of the prophecies of Jesus in the Old Testament. It’s called 300 Prophesies Fulfilled by Jesus.

May the fact of Christ’s resurrection bring you great joy through every day of our lives here! He Has Risen! Because He lives there is hope for today and a wonderful future ahead.

God of Wonders

December 28, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

Stars-UniverseGod of Wonders is the name of a beautiful song. The words of the song were inspired by the Psalms. But, just looking at this beautiful world is enough inspiration to write a song about the wonderful God that created the heavens and earth.

The song starts with talking about the Lord of all creation. In the book of Genesis we learn that the world was created by God’s Words. In the New Testament, we learn that Jesus is the Word of God.

The chorus of the song says:

God of wonders, beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy

Did you know that the sun is a million times bigger than the size of the earth? It’s BIG! 960,000 earths could fit inside the sun!

Although it’s HUGE to us, our sun is not that large compared to other stars. Betelgeuse is twice the size of the earth’s orbit around the sun! The largest star found to date is Canis Majoris. If the earth were a golf ball, in comparison it would be the height of Mount Everest.

There’s a wonderful video by Lou Giglio talking about God’s Greatness. I’ve posted it at my other blog – How Great Is Our God

The video points out first the magnitude of the heavens, then turns around to the infinite wonder of how God has made us. Our bodies have 75 trillion cells. Each cell has a 6 foot long DNA strand with a 3 billion character description. There is enough DNA in our bodies to go to the moon and back 178,000 times!

God of Wonders is one of the songs taught in our JW Worship Guitar Class lessons. The more you understand how wonderful God is, the more you’ll want to Worship Him! He has wonderful plans for your life too!

Story Behind Silent Night

December 22, 2015 By admin Leave a Comment

christmas-sceneDid you know that the song ‘Silent Night‘ was actually written for and on the guitar? It was written in 1816 by Father Josef Mohr and Franz Gruber. I’ve always LOVED the story of how this song was originally composed.

Imagine that you lived in a small town in Austria and the organ broke right before one of the most important Christian Holidays, Christmas. The snow was so thick that the organ repairman couldn’t come to fix it. Sometimes our biggest blessings come in times of difficult trials!

Father Joseph had written a beautiful  poem and shared the lyrics with the organist, Franz Gruber. Inspired by the words, he set the lyrics to the melody that we sing today, Silent Night. That night, it was introduced to the world with just the guitar accompaniment.

Today, this song that had such humble beginnings, is now sung in over 300 languages. Yes… that’s over THREE hundred languages! I’m sure Father Mohr and Franz could have never imagined in their wildest dreams how many millions and perhaps billions of people have loved singing their simple and beautiful song!

There’s a hidden message for each one of us in this story. You never know how the ‘little’ thing you do today for God may touch and bless people in ways that you could never imagine!

One of my brothers produces Christian materials for Children and his materials are being translated into many languages. Every time we talk, I hear more stories of how people are being blessed with his work.

Here’s a simple arrangement of the song for you to play.

Silent Night – On Guitar

This is one of the songs included in our ‘Easy Christmas Songs For Guitar‘ program. You can find out more about that program here.

There is also a form to download the music to ‘Silent Night’ free.

Christmas Day celebrates one of the two most important days in human history! My favorite day is Easter. Two pivotal days are the Birth and Resurrection of Christ!
