I’m so exited to share a two minute video than can help you with
your guitar playing. It’s one of the left-hand exercises I use
a lot. You can view it here…

2) Too Old To Play?…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I often receive emails from people who want to know if they are
too old to learn to play the guitar. The people asking have
ranged in age from early 20’s through late 60’s.
This last week I was glad to see an article in ‘U.S. News &
World Report’ about this topic. It validated what I already
knew. It’s never too late to start playing an instrument. I have
taught beginning guitar students in their 80’s and 90’s.
The article mentioned that there are amateur community bands of
adults 50 & up across the US and Canada. Not only is it good
for your mind, it’s good for your soul
3) Singapore & More Stores…
It’s amazing what God can do in a person’s life! I just heard
about a professor’s Grandmother from India. She was born in the
‘Untouchable’ caste and was sold as a bride at age 6. At 40,
she was kicked out of the house because she had no children.
She was going down to the river to commit suicide, but instead
met a British Missionary who led her to Christ. He prayed and
God healed the pain she had carried all her life.
She reunited with her husband and had three children. God
blessed the works of her hands and she became a blessing to her
community, both financially & spiritually! (Founded the first school
and hospital in her community.)
You are never to old to start something new. One of my students
told me her Mother taught her that you stay young by continuing
to learn new things. Her mother learned to swim at age 90.
1) How to teach little ones…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve gotten several emails recently asking about how to
teach little kids. The videos and DVD’s are great for ages
9 and up, but I would suggest starting slower for ages 5 – 8.

You can start them off by helping them recognize strings
and frets. Tell them the strings numbers…1 through 6, and
ask them to play various strings.

Then show them the frets. They need to know that their
little fingers go behind a fret so the string can sound. Have
them count the frets and learn which is the first, etc.

Then, just call out a string and fret and make it a game to see
how fast they can make that note sound. After they have an
understanding of strings and frets, then I would teach them
some chords.

Instead of starting with A & E7, I like to start with one
finger chords for little guys. You can teach them C & G7.
See the chart here…

CandG7

Get them to do these chords with just their first finger.
For C, which is the second string, first fret, they need
to strum the top three strings only. For G7, they just
strum the top four strings.

Work on the chords and ask them…”Now how many
string do you strum for C?” “Wow, you’re smart…that’s
right!!!” They probably wont remember right away, but
they will get it, and be sure to give them LOTS of praise.

When they are ready, they can play ‘He’s Got The Whole
World In His Hands’ using C and G7.

Kids love games, and you can present this material like
a game. I taught a class of Home School boys from age
5 – 9 and they just loved it. They didn’t even want to
take a break for summer vacation!

2) DVD’s…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DVD 2 is at the Mastering House. The sleeves and booklets
are printed. I will let you know as soon as they are ready!
I thought it was going to be done months ago.
I’ll start working on DVD 3 this week, Lord willing. I know
many of you have been waiting for these, and it’s my first
priority. When the DVD’s are finished I’ve got many ideas
in my head for ways to help you.
I’ve had Volume Four in mind for a couple years and know
what I’d like to teach. But I’d also like to make a DVD of
how to teach little kids and there has been a request for
teaching how to transpose songs into different keys.
I’ll be getting a survey system up in a few days to see
what you’d would like next.
3) In Closing…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blessings to you in this end of the holiday weekend. I pray
God’s love fill your heart. He is so GOOD!!!

Praise Him with all your heart, because He loves you with
all of His!

Over the last few years, so many people have asked me if I knew
of or could recommend a piano instructional method using
worship songs. The wait is finally over. I’ve found a very good
method, that I can highly recommend.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to play the piano by ear, or know
anyone, check it out at:

With all the copyright laws, you have to be so careful. I wanted
to print all the words and chords for ‘I Love You Lord’ last month
but the person I needed to get approval from was out of town.

He’s finally back and has given me permission to share that with
you. The song is up, with the two audios, at…

What Is Worship?

September 8, 2010 By admin Leave a Comment

Sunset-Sky

When someone does something nice for us, we say “thank you.” We may go a step further and send a nice note or gift. How can we thank God, who has given us life, both here on Earth and eternal life in Heaven? Yes, we should obey his commandments, pray and seek to become Christ-like in all we do. The Bible describes worship as “pleasing” to God and a requirement of those who follow Christ. It our way of expressing our love and thanksgiving to God.

What is worship? If you look at the Hebrew translation of the Bible, worship means to bow down in adoring contemplation of God. God has asked his people to worship Him from the beginning of time. In Exodus, the Lord told Moses to appeal to Pharaoh to let his people go so they could worship Him. When the Pharaoh refused, God cursed the land with the ten plagues. God commanded early Christians to focus worship on Him. “Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” (Exodus 34:14).

Jesus mentioned the importance of worship when Satan tempted him. “The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.” (Luke:4:5-8). Jesus’ followers worshipped him when he walked on Earth, just as we worship Him in spirit now.

In the modern-day churches, “worship services” often begin with music. David was the first person in the Bible to emphasize the power of music in worship. He talks about it often in the Psalms. “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs,” (Psalms 100:2) is just one of many passages that emphasizes music in worship.

Worship is uplifting. Music can touch the soul. Many people are moved to tears during worship. Many lift their hands in honor to God. Some just simply listen quietly. Worship, even when it is done in a church, is a private expression of our love to God.

Even when you are not in church, you can worship God by playing music when you are alone. Or you can choose to bless others by singing and playing worship songs for them.

You don’t have to be the best singer, guitar player or piano player to show your devotion to God. God is pleased by our worship. “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hoofs. (Psalms 69: 30-31). Worship is the ultimate “thank you” to the One who gave sacrificed his Son so we can have eternal life, earthly peace and abundant blessings.
