Questions from you...

One of our Newsletter Family Members asked
about her hurting left hand. I thought it might
be helpful to talk about this in a Newsletter
since it's not uncommon.

If your wrist every hurts, then you're holding
the guitar wrong... if it's the fingers... that goes
away. The wrist should be 'slightly' bent. If it's
bent too much that puts stress on it.
You can elevate the neck higher so wrist isn't as bent.

The other common reason for a sore hand is if
you squeeze the chords. It's much better to 'hang'
on the neck.

Then you're using your larger arm muscle instead
of the tiny one on your hand. It takes a lot of 'weight'
but not squeezing.

Try playing few chords without touching your thumb
to the neck. That will give you an idea of how to play
without squeezing. Then place the thumb on the neck,
but not with heavy pressure

I've been getting very positive feedback from the new Reading
Music & Music Theory Guitar Course.

Hello Dear Sister in Christ,
I want to let you know this course could not be closer to what
I hoped for; the focus being on learning how to read and use music
for guitar. Terrific!

Even though only Christopher (our oldest son) and I are using
the course, I know our whole family will benefit from it eventually,
as we are more able to use what we learn, and hopefully arouse
the interest of some of the others in learning to play
the guitar. We have one precious daughter and four marvelous sons.
God be praised!

God bless you for following His leading in preparing and making

I LOVED reading that she's singing and worshipping
every day at home! Our God saved us to be in
relationship with HIM. How pleased He must be
when we make Him central in our lives!

RELAX

Yeas ago I went to a Master's Class where the
teacher listened to each student, then had them play
their pieces again with a more relaxed face.

The results were amazing. Music in an expression
of your inner soul and when the excess tension is
gone, the music can come out more freely.

Relaxing your face helps you to relax your shoulders,
which helps your to relax your hands. You do need
energy for each pluck or strum, but the hands should be
relaxed between each pluck, strum or chord change.

to sing through our lives. I love this quote from
Beth Moore, "When we trust our lives to the unseen
but ever-present God, He will write our lives into
His story and every last one of them will be a great

Blessings in His Matchless Name! I hope all is going well with you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

In a recent survey, an number of you wanted tips on getting a clear sound on your guitars. I've posted an article at the blog.

1. Trim your left-hand fingernails. If you have nails it’s impossible to hold the strings down cleanly.

2. Hold a string down with the tip, or pad, of your finger right behind the frets. If you hold a string down on top of a fret it can produce a muffled tone. If you hold down a string too far from the fret it can produce a buzzing sound. Stay on the tips of your fingers and hold each string firmly, as close to the frets as you can.

Reflecting on the deer and cat video makes me think of the many languages God has created. Not only are there thousands of dialects humans speak, but there are emotional languages that is understood and shared with man and animals like the loving gestures of that cat.

i'm sure ants must have computer chips. It's amazing how with the brief touch of antennas they know exactly where that honey jar is located.

How about our bodies? Then there is a complex cell language that goes on inside our bodies. Our God is infinitely AMAZING.

the drums on a worship team? Carl Albrecht

has made some excellent DVD's. Carl is

the drummer on 85 Integrity recordings plus

he works with a lot of the well-knows

Christian artists.

What's refreshing to see is that Carl also

has the gift of teaching. You can learn a

lot about drumming techniques, patterns,

how to set up your drums and even

specific patterns for today's current

worship songs.

At the end of the DVD I was pleased to

see him talking about serving the Lord

through your music and about having

a servant's heart in a worship team.

My favorite holiday is Resurrection Sunday.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15

"And if Christ has not been raised, our

preaching is useless and so is your faith.

More than that, we are then found to be

false witnesses about God, for we have

testified about God that he raised Christ

from the dead.

But he did not raise him if in fact the dead

are not raised. For if the dead are not

raised, then Christ has not been raised

either. And if Christ has not been raised,

your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

Then those also who have fallen asleep in

Christ are lost. If only for this life we have

hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more

than all men.

But Christ has indeed been raised from

the dead, the firstfruits of those who

have fallen asleep."
